'Audit Pro' is a unique product that fulfils a mandatory requirement, often overlooked by clinicians using Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound: a clinical audit. The purpose of a clinical audit is to assess a sonographer's diagnostic accuracy in image acquisition and interpretation, comparing it to that of our SMUG experts. Any discrepancies are identified, and feedback is provided. Finding an audit tool suitable for a dynamic and operator-dependent imaging modality like ultrasound can be challenging. Audit Pro provides a solution and much more…
We have been working with Presuna, a technology platform company, to develop a simple, online tool to streamline the audit process. Presuna enables you to upload and store your anonymised images, providing quantitative and qualitative feedback on your performance, specifically regarding image quality and interpretation. Furthermore, Presuna tracks your progress using easy-to-understand charts and graphs.

It is recognised that the majority of clinicians using ultrasound, outside of a radiology, are not carrying out regular audits. At present there is no set method of carrying out ultrasound examinations and no gold standard method of clinical audit. Audit Pro provides an excellent solution.
The expansion of ultrasound, represents a significant clinical risk, if it is undertaken in the absence of clinical audit of performance. Without evidence of an audit process, patients are at risk and clinicians are leaving themselves vulnerable to potential litigation. BMUS recommends that clinicians should aim for a review of approximately 5% of all examinations and reports.
Audit Pro provides the solution for every clinician carrying out MSK ultrasound, who has no regular audit in place.
The British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS), Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), Society of Radiographers, Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (FSEM) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) state that an essential part of clinical governance is the need for regular auditing of images in order to maintain high quality of scanning and interpretation, and to learn from mistakes. BMUS recommends that an audit tool must provide a reproducible mechanism with which all these quality factors can be measured reliably and repeatedly. All clinicians using ultrasound must be able to demonstrate their ultrasound performance annually i.e., their image acquisition and interpretation.
The National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) defines clinical audit as ‘A systematic review of a practice, process, or performance to establish how well it meets predetermined criteria. NHS England sees clinical audit as ‘A way to find out if healthcare is being provided in line with standards and let’s care providers and patients know where their service is doing well and where there could be improvements’.
Audit Pro provides a solution to the audit process and helps to satisfy the mandatory requirement of clinical audit for every clinician using ultrasound in their clinical practice.
Audit Pro is appropriate for all clinicians using ultrasound in their practice.
Audit Pro is used by Radiologists, GPs with a special interest in MSK/Sports Medicine, Surgeons, Sports Medicine Consultants, Physiotherapists, Radiographers, Podiatrists, Sonographers and Osteopaths
